Hawaiian Party!!

For those of you who know me, you will know that I have been planning my 30th birthday party for some time now and surely, no party of mine would be complete without a few flowers here and there.

To go with the Hawaiian theme I decided to use brightly coloured gerbera and roses as well as some tropical flowers including Bird of Paradise, Anthurium, Cymbidium & Dendrobian Orchids and Gloriosa.

The venue was The Brasserie at Beechdown (http://www.beechdown.co.uk/) which was perfect for the informal party I was planning. The two large arrangements were used in the bar area to create an impact of colour. On the tables outside I created smaller arrangements which were put with coloured tealight holders. I wanted to give the idea cocktails so I used wine glasses to hold the arrangements and used straws and cocktail umbrellas to add to the effect.

Final Contemporary Design Week

This is a very contemporary style arrangement which I tried to soften by using roses and hydrangea rather then orchids or anthurium.

Vintage Flowers Workshop

Wow! I have had such a fabulous day today! Not only did I have a day off from work but I got to spend it at the Vintage Style flower design course at Treetops in Newbury.

Treetops is a beautiful venue and is owned and run by Emily who is absolutely lovely. She runs all sorts of one day courses including cookery, watercolour painting, photography and most recently added to the timetable .... cupcakes!! http://www.treetops-newbury.co.uk/index.htm

The flower design courses are run by Susanna Jarrett from Tiger Rose Floral Design, who made the arrangement above.

Here's a little sneaky peak at the arrangement I made - more photos to follow soon ..... I promise!

Purple Calla Lilies

When I went to buy my flowers for this week's course I spotted some gorgeous dark purple calla lilies which made me think of a wedding I am doing the flowers for next year. The bride's chosen the stunning theme of dark purple and sparkles so I thought I would have a little practice to see how the colours look!

This arrangement could be used as a table centre.

I couldn't resist making a buttonhole.

Funky Vase Arrangement

To make this fabulous handtied arrangement I used bright pink germinis, cymbodium orchids, bear grass and spirals of green wire.
